About Us

Ron Barbagallo

Owner, NY Pinball

One of the questions I’m asked most often is how I got into this business. Looking back, I must have been influenced by those childhood visits to places like Coney Island, Rockaway’s Playland, Nunley’s Amusement Park (sadly, it’s now Pep Boys), and all the boardwalk arcades along the Long Island beaches and the Jersey Shore. I fondly recall the game rooms filled with huge assortments of arcade games and pinball machines at the Catskill Mountain resorts we visited on our family trips. I quickly learned that if I bothered my parents enough, I would get a pocketful of change.

When I was about 17 years old, it was my father who gave me the opportunity to pursue my passion for amusement games. He chose to take the plunge and start up his own game route! Who knows? Maybe it was divine intervention. Soon I became an expert at servicing coin-op equipment, performing work for other route operators and arcades.

Working on such a variety of equipment was a good training ground, but I could never escape the one coin-op device that interested me the most: pinball machines. They were like a mechanical symphony of sights and sounds, and by controlling the flippers, you were the maestro. In my spare time, I would restore old pinball machines and sell them to people to use in their homes. Before long, referrals came in from other people who wanted to buy a machine. I still get the same feeling of gratification when I take an old, tired machine and restore it to its former glory. It’s been said that if you never want to work a day in your life, do something you love. I’m lucky. I love what I do. My restoration work strives for the highest standard, and the results speak for themselves. I invite you to come and see it all in person.
